: Anyway, I'm going outside the rotation on
: both choices this time. For the Outside
: Stuff, it's..."CT: The Astral
: Factor"
I was pretty surprised that this surfaced. As you may recall, I saw this a couple of times when the Titans presented it live. Shortly thereafter, I heard that they hadn't recorded any performances of this show, so I figured it was lost. Then, a few days ago, I learned an enterprising fan put together an audio recording of the riffing and a video of the movie and put the result up on YouTube. So, I figured I'd watch it quickly, in case it got taken down.
I remembered it as being very funny, and indeed it is. The movie is lousy (both in print and content), as we follow an astral-projecting nutcase killing beautiful women. He's followed by an angry, tantrum-prone detective who's saddled with a pen-obsessed partner, a ditzy & oversexed girlfriend, and an uncooperative & oversexed potential victim. It makes little sense and is rather unpleasant. The riffing is great, though, with Dave "Gruber" Allen filling in for an ailing Josh.
Great stuff! Watch it while you can. And let's hope the new show remakes on the other two missing CT efforts.
: while for the Original Stuff,
: we continue with the new stuff
: with..."The Beast of Hollow
: Mountain" (Show 1105).
I think I may have heard of this one before, but I'd never seen it. I agree with the guys that it's a bit of a rip-off. For the most part, it's a straight Western, with a couple of budding ranchers (one Mexican, one Anglo) running afoul of an unscrupulous potential cattle baron. There's the baron's fiancée, a cute kid, and some mysterious cattle deaths. Oh, and a tyrannosaurus rex shows up. It's not too bad, though the dino effects might seem a bit off (even if they are supervised by Willis O'Brien of "King Kong" fame).
The host segments are good, including a spoof of a very odd village dance, and Jonah & the 'bots coming up with a really great idea for a better movie. And the riffing is great, and well-paced.
Well, these worked out OK. Anybody else care to comment?
: We'll be right back...
