: Anyway, the selection for the Outside Stuff
: is..."RT: Superargo and the Faceless
This was a new one for me. Years ago, I'd seen "Superargo vs. Diabolicus", which was made before this one. I don't remember much about it, so I went in more or less cold. The movie was...not great. There's a lot of build-up regarding Superargo's heroic abilities, but he rarely does anything really heroic. He keeps blowing his assignment, let's his pseudo-Indian sidekick get in danger, and inspires little confidence from his boss. Oh, and there's the costume. I will say there was an odd but cool title sequence.
Mike, Kevin & Bill do a great job riffing on this one, from the small & face-possessing "faceless giants" to Superargo's lesser heroics. I hope they'll get to the original Superargo movie.
: while the Original Stuff
: selection is the next new
: episode..."Wizards of the Lost Kingdom
: II" (Show 1111).
Okay, here we go.
And we're off.
"Wizards of the Lost Kingdom" made me nostalgic for "Quest of the Delta Knights". And WotLK II made me nostalgic for the original. It's even cheaper looking, with more insipid "heroes" and less fun villains. The bad guys are defeated even more easily than in the original. Worst of all, except for one quick stock shot, this has no connection with the original. It's just an unrelated movie given the name as a supposed cash grab...I guess.
The riffing was good, though. And they sidestepped the sad fate of star David Carradine. The host segments were good, particularly the orientation video. I thought the Invention Exchange was funny, and the re-appearance of Pearl, Bobo & Observer was OK. However, I'm not sure where we're going with Kinga's new plan. We'll see, I guess.
That's my take on it. Anyone care to reply?
