I set a jump up for Mike in Phoenix at ASU's Sundevil Stadium in the early 90's. I tried to get him to use at least a 4' if not 8' piece of plywood depending on how the 4x8 sheet was set for a safety deck
He was using a semi trailer for a landing ramp. Would'nt do it.
He was riding a barrowed YZ250 . He came up just short enough to "V" the rear wheel. If he would've "Cased it" Meaning hit the bottom of the frame or the space on the swingarm before the wheel rear wheel he would've been in bad shape. I hate to say it but I (and another jumper Lennie Suppes) knew he was heaeded for a bad accident. I hope and pray he is getting along well now.
He was a super nice guy and a great rider.
