Posted by Do you like it? on 8/25/2002, 11:40 am Christie, the manager of Rock Kandy and Myself came up with the idea in the early 90s and being avid lovers of the 80s hair era, we decided that it was lacking in the music scene, in particularly at that period of time when grunge and alternative reared its ugly head. So against all odds, we set out to put together the most authentic show we could do, our goal was to reproduce the 80s Hair Band Era to it fullest potential. At the period of time, the group was called Cheap N Nasty and was given about six months to live. Well being the believers that we were, many band member changes, here we are six years later with the best lineup we ever had! Its funny now everybody is the next 80s band, so I guess if not for anything we did open the door to this whole 80s Era coming back to clubs and made it acceptable again. Through the years, we have been told that we were the forefathers per say, and if so, then we accomplished our goal and plan on continuing it and always being the #1 80s Glam Rock Experience for years to come. 2) Youve been in the music business for awhile, what are some of your past projects? I have been doing this since the early age of 18, I have been in several projects, original and covers. I had worked with acts such as The Good Rats, Twisted Sister, Starz, Eric Carmen, Robin Trower, Great White, Britny Fox, Doro, Bullet Boys. My projects: Sin (which I worked with Rick Fox, from Steeler and WASP) , AngelFace, Foxxie, Orange Hearts (which was distributed by CBS), Baby Jane (which was signed to EMI) and today Rock Kandy. And I have also had the pleasure of working with Eddie Ojeda of Twisted Sister and being asked by Mark Slaughter to come up and do backgrounds last summer at the PNC. 3) How do you psyche yourself up for a show? A couple of drinks (LOL!!)!!!!! Just knowing that I can go out on stage and do what I love doing, is the only adrenaline I need! 4 ) When faced with a hostile crowd, what do you do to win them over? I dont let any audience intimidate me, so that is the first thing, we never really had a hostile crowd, but we have been in situations, where the 80s werent the cool thing for that particular room. I give 150% to every show and basically I keep working at it till I get them where I want them. I make sure no matter where we are playing , whether its to a packed room or a small crowd, I make sure that at the end of the night, we have walked out of there, making new Rock Kandy Fans. 5) Your band is known for encouraging frivolous behavior from the crowd, what are some of the more outrageous things that have happened at Rock Kandy shows? Girls throwing bras and underwear on stage, Whip Cream Contests, Girls flashing, Girls following band members home, Offers of twosomes and threesomes, Ahhhh Rock N roll!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 6) Lately youve been incorporating heavier songs into the set do you find the crowd responds more to these songs what songs get the biggest reactions? We have tried to keep everyone happy as best we can, without totally veering of the Genre, some of our fans have asked for some heavier material, I dont know if I would call it heavy, more in the metal vein, like Priest , Maiden, etc.. On a whole, the more commercial side takes off the best, Bon Jovi, Poison, Def Leppard, Faster Pussycat, etc. 7) What songs do you enjoy playing the most and least? I enjoy all the songs that we do, I am not forced as most top 40 bands are to do some material that might not be of my liking, but in this case, it is my liking, so I love it all! 8) What are some venues you think Rock Kandy goes over the best Definitely the College Market, Packees, Caseys, Hoboken, a lot of out of state stuff, the list goes on. 9) What do you think about bands like Limp Bizkit, Korn, etc
I dont! 10) Word association: please tell me the first thing that pops into your head
