The LL Qualifier at Sherwood was a great event this year in spite of the weather. All of the rain prior to the race kept Robert Kendrick and the rest of the track crew with plenty to do. Practice on Friday was delayed until noon, but the track was in great shape all afternoon. More rain Friday night delayed the racing on Saturday. Great track prep got things going by noon again and the racing was excellent. Sunday's program started on time and we were through by 5pm. The wind and sunshine dried the track out quickly and track conditions changed again, but the crew kept working like they always do to keep the track in good shape. Thank you Bill Lea for training John and the crew.
There were riders from 16 states on hand:
Arkansas
Texas
Louisiana
Oklahoma
Mississippi
Missouri
North Carolina
Alabama
California
Arizona
Illinois
Florida
Michigan
Georgia
Washington
Wisconsin
There were 89 entries from Arkansas, the most since the first qualifier at Sherwood. Robbie Reynard's dad, Robert was on hand wrenching and even raced the +50 on Sunday. Dave Antolak from Team TUF was there with his son Chris. Kevin Cozzad from MXer's for Jesus won his class and shared some good words before racing began each day. Our thoughts go out to Cole Taylor who was injured on Saturday and hopefully a quick recovery. Also to the other riders that took a spill this weekend, heal up fast and we hope to see you back at the track soon.
The crawfish were great. Several snakes were seen on the track. The dozers kept busy pulling people through the mud and no one complained. Lots of compliments about the track and Southern hospitality. We don't need any more fire trucks getting stuck on the road in. Several riders got their Pro points and will move on to the Big Show.
For all of the Arkansas riders that advanced to the Regionals, keep up the good work and good luck to you from all of the Dirtbikemike crew. We hope to see you in Tennessee this summer.
