Posted by Shannon Walker Hi! Good news that I hope you would help me spread: PBS I am the person who initiated the broadcast. I attended Animal Rights I spoke with James LaVeck, creator of the film, yesterday. He is working Is there anything YSEARC can do to get the word out in the Youngstown area? James would probably be more than happy to send the posters and handbills your way for distribution. Please let me know or you can contact him at james@tribeofheart.org. Thank you for any help/suggestions you can provide! Shannon Walker

Hello all! I just sent this message to the officers of YSEARC, and decided that it might be good to post it here, too:
45 and 49 is broadcasting "The Witness" on November 19th at 11 p.m. I
imagine that more than a few of your members are familiar with the
documentary film. If not, it's the story of Eddie Lama's transformation
from a rough and tough working guy to an animal rights activist. It's
profoundly moving, remaining ever present in the mind of the viewer for a
very long time. It does contain graphic images, but not to the extent of
films like Meet Your Meat. For more information than I have provided, you
can go to www.tribeofheart.org.
2003 in Washington D.C. this past summer and saw a showing of The Witness.
When I returned, I began a campaign to get it on the air and to my
surprise the program director at PBS 45 and 49 was willing, albeit
grudgingly, to broadcast it. As you are all aware, it is very difficult
to get animal cruelty on the airwaves, but here we have an opportunity to
slip in through the back door.
on finding people to help with advertising by hanging posters and
delivering handbills, getting a news release out on Web sites, etc. There
isn't much time (as I said, November 19 is the big date).
