I was told that Gary passed away yesterday after a long fight with ALS..
I will post more details as they come in..
He will be missed.
Halifax. After a long struggle with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), Gary passed away peacefully on Monday, September 14, 2009, in his home, surrounded by family and friends. Gary was a beloved father, brother, and friend. He will be greatly missed. He is survived by his daughter, Shannon Spence; her husband, Clinton Pinks, and his siblings, Doreen Gould, Albert Spence, and Donnie Spence. Our special thanks to Lee Harnish, Peppy Laviguer, the amazing support workers at the Red Cross, the Palliative Care team, and the many others who ensured that Gary had the highest quality of life. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 17, from 1-2 p.m. until the memorial service time at 2 p.m. in the chapel at J. A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Dr., Halifax. Gary's brother-in-law, Father Gilbert Bertrand, OMI will officiate. He was an inspiration! Please visit MeM.com.
