Posted by Chris George There is a new prostock from Rob Uphill, Rob has an agricultural engineering business at Chewton Mendip, they are main dealers for the McCormick range of tractor so accordingly will be the new tractor, as the spin off from the IH range that will sport new McCormick tinwork and run in the up to 510 cubic inch pro class. Many will remember the Deutz 8006 that he prepaired and ran some years ago incidentally the same machine that is campaigned by Pete George now as Mean Green. Exciting stories abound about a ‘cab over’ (flat fronted) Peter built truck are confirmed By Tony Bruegger he says that now the deal has been done, previously run in Nebraska U S A It will be a good exhibition machine sporting a Detroit V8 that has supercharging and Turbo charging stages of boost, coupled to an Allison planetary gearbox, it also has a few tricks up its sleeve to entertain the fans. A new under 401 pro stock in the form of a 3000 series Massey Ferguson is taking shape, will be run by Pete Cox brother to Steve the co builder of the new sledge, Steve is busy with mods to make this machine ready for the 06 season now that the paint is dry on the sledge as well as rebuilding the V12 on his own Ltd Mod, wonder if he gets time for customer work? The rolling chassis of Bob Johnson’s old twin V12 Jag tractor has been purchased by father & son Mike and Gary Haberfield who are shopping around for a suitable power plant for the ltd Mod class in the form of one of the available diesel V8 truck engines, it will be good to have a smoker in the class and maybe show the way. The Ltd Mod Meteor engined machine is still under way from Tim Sexton, having gathered all the main parts he is considering a Steve Cox Chassis to hold it all together, Tim who has now left the army to become a Cat service engineer and move family home has found it difficult to give the new machine his full attention lately hopes to get on with it now he is settled. There are two Fordson Major under 401 pro stocks coming on in our area, these excellent entry point machines will allow two more enthusiasts to have a go and maybe catch the bug. The sport so badly needs these enthusiastic people to ensure a future of growth, I can name more than one superstar that started with a humble stock tractor. And NO you don’t need a £150,000.00 budget to go tractor pulling. Chris George.
