A troll is somebody who puts abusive and disruptive posts on message boards in order to get attention knowing no other way to do wo. The troll is best ignored. If you respond any other way, it will think it won and post again.
If you are the first to find a troll message, I recommend you do the following.
1. Respond to it, putting the word "Troll Alert" or something similar in the subject line.
2. In the message, type as little as possible. Remember, trolls get off on the attention.
3. If you see a section of thread with a troll alert, you needn't make any further response. Remember, no matter what the insults are, all it really wants is the attention. If the troll insulted you, trust that your fellow posters know better than to believe a troll.
