I work in long term care and am having similar issues. I hurt my back and when I went to the dr for my back I ended up crying and saying omg that place. Now he also said you just lost your mother, your father has to find out if he has lung ca, your husbands depression anxiety issues. But I have been doing well till all the h.. hit the fan at work.
We have students that are taking the course from the co that owns the nursing home, who are not done their course but working on the units as myself and other staff who have many years in. They dont want any help info or anything no mattger how professionally they do it. One is terrible, she was seen taking a wig of a lady going down in her room, coming back out saying oh those girls dont do proper care, look i have to put on ... wig. I observed her telling a res. that she was a total. pain the arse, and not joking. she also grabbed papers from aco worker aand threw them away. So she has been reported but most of us think she wont be fired, cos they have put $ into training her. but her attitude is not for this workplace. Well this eve i just found out that she may be coming to my unit to work......... I cant handle that at all. I am so into these res. and care too much if there is such a thing for them. I do other workers work when i see it not being done. My dr and our counc. said you have to slow down and relax. but boy that is me and when i see injustice done to a person esp an elderly one that cant take care of self. argh.
so i do understand but i also dont want to start over, I have had a lot of jobs in past few years too. I dont want to go to my old job as i was only casual and had to work day, eve nights, here on the whole it isnt too bad but for about 3 or so of these students.
HUGS as you make these decisions and sorry it is so hard. I do understand and we sometimes just have to vent and writing here is great.
again hugs and we know you are doing your best at your work.
