My husband surprised me by going to an Asian buffet while we were out yesterday. It has been a problem in the past. Yesterday, I bypassed the overflowing buffet and went straight to the stirfry bar, picked out a plate full of veggies and about 3 oz of chicken, had it cooked without sauces and was happy, full and on plan.
My youngest grandson with the flu is feeling almost back to normal. His fever broke yesterday. He had a flu shot, but so many are getting flu this year that got shots. Hope mine holds up.
I needed some milk, eggs, and bread yesterday and was right beside Walmart so I ran in there to get them instead of driving somewhere else. I was so grateful that we had already had our Christmas and I wasn't pulled by whether someone would like this or that I walked by getting to the grocery area. Also grateful I wasn't joining the crowd of panicked shoppers discovering that Walmart, as well as every other store in town, was out of that specific ingredient they just had to have.
The boy's stepmother brought us and my daughter all Christmas gifts yesterday. It was a real shocker but hopefully a portent of better things to come. Their father and mother did such a good job of co-parenting until he married again. The new stepmother has been very stand-offish and unfriendly, almost hostile until now, not wanting their father to have anything to do with us. Hoping for better things for the boys.
