Traditions and memories. My dad worked 15 hour days 7 days a week for most of my childhood except for a few days out of the year that he would take some time off. Fourth of July was one of them. We usually went to the lake, often joined by lots of friends and relatives. The adults would fish, the kids would swim or ski (with supervision from non-fishing adults), we would have a HUGE picnic and in the evening our family would go back to my grandfather's before dark and assemble on his lawn for the fireworks at the golf course next door to my grandfather. That day was always one of my favorites out of the year. I still love those memories.
Antibiotics. Miracle drugs.
My plain, old fashion, daylilies that have been pollinated by some of my other daylilies and now have double blooms of a much creamer and prettier color. Since they are the old-fashioned kind they bloom all summer instead of having a show and over. I am so pleased with them. They also practically take care of themselves and we can mow up underneath them without hurting them so no week eating involved. Since they are getting prolific I am thinking of taking out everything along the back fence and moving some of them so that I have a whole line of them.
Playing the points game at Kroger. They usually have 4X points for gift cards. We have started going by to get gift cards for restaurants any time that we plan to go out to eat. Sure helps with the gas bills since we have three drivers in the family now so that we can go out to eat sometimes.
