Our trash men. It is raining steadily today, there is already some flooding, the trash truck that picks up the can and flips it into the trash truck must be torn up because three guys in rainwear that didn't seem to be doing a lot for them were walking along and moving the cans to the side of the road where they had to lift them into the truck by hand and empty them. I am so willing that they are willing to do that so that I don't have to.
The worst of the rain missed us last night or we would have been really flooded. It is looking shaky for the rest of the week, rain in the forecast almost every day.
Our Ring doorbell. I love being able to see and talk to people at the door before I get there as well as the security feature. There were porch bandits following the delivery trucks everywhere at Christmas picking up everything that was delivered.
Son and his family came to dinner last night. We all ate well and no one delved into the higher calorie/carb fare for the kiddies. He and his wife have been losing since the first fo the year too. All four of the boys are going through a growth spurt right now and are too skinny so they need some extra feeding. That makes it hard if you have a food addiction.
I shouldn't have any trouble getting my water in today. For some reason, I have been downing water like crazy today.
Having a handy husband that could do a temporary fix on the heater switch that was keeping it from working. H & A guy was supposed to be here today but they aren't coming, they have too many people without any heat at all, we have the luxury of one heater still working and the aforementioned handy husband.
All my appliances. They all work hard. I can remember Grandma washing clothes with a washing machine that was out on the porch. She had to boil water for and it was basically just an agitator. She had to stop it and run the clothes through a wringer to get all the soap out that she could, put them into giant tubs and agitate with her hands to rinse, rinse the soap off the wringer and move it around to wring the rinse water out of them and hang them out on the line. It was a process still but she was so happy about that machine because it made wash day so much easier. Before she got it she had to use a scrub board to get the clothes clean. All I have to do is dump mine in a machine, add detergent push a button, come back when it chimes that it is finished and move the clothes to the dryer where I can walk away until it chimes that it is done. We are so spoiled.
