My granddaughter shared a birthday with Krista. She would have been 21 today. It is still a hard day for me after all these years without her but I am grateful for the time we had with her, all she taught me, and how she touched so many.
My husband got me flowers. They are so pretty! He is not a big fan of cut flowers, he loves live plants so it was kinda special that he got them because he knew it would cheer me up.
The meter reader discovered that my mother's water has had a break since Jan. 22 when they read her meter yesterday. Luckily he turned it off and reported it and the one over the department is her (step) grandson. He called her and told her that he would take care of it. Luckily it was a pipe that wasn't buried deep enough for the week of zero temps we had in January from an old trailer that used to set on the property before they bought the land. He plans to just cap it off. Problem solved and the plumber bill should be reasonable. The water department has told him that they will only send her a burst pipe bill, not a full bill for all that water that leaked. All around it worked out well. Glad that it wasn't in the house, which she feared at first until he found it. Lots to be grateful for here, it could have been disastrously expensive for her and put paid to her ever returning home.
My SIL woke up with a high fever yesterday morning (well Tuesday but my nights and days are mixed) and they couldn't get it to go down all day. After a positive COVID test, the doctor prescribed Paxlovid. He still had a rough night last night but his fever had gone down a little right before bedtime tonight (Wed. night). This is the guy that rarely ever gets sick and even with C in his household 4 times as well as co-workers getting sick at work he has never been sick with it. He did test positive at Christmas when the others had it but never had any symptoms. My daughter said that it was really bad this time. Grateful that the meds helped and hope that he is feeling bakc to normal soon.
