mostly because I don't want to hear any more people tell me they wouldn't eat this, I shouldn't eat this, how some friend of theirs eats instead, how it's too many calories, how it's not enough calories, how it's not a big variety, how it's too boring, structured, blah blah blah. Here's what I've had/will have today:
B - shake, banana
S - almonds
L - crunchy taco (beef, cheese, lettuce, hot ass salsa) and SF meal bar
S - apple
D - lite 4 cheese ravioli (in the fresh pasta section), roasted red pepper marinara (in the pasta sauce section), Schwartz Bros Bakery sourdough (DELICIOUS), baby salad with carrots and 1 tbsp caesar vinaigrette.
1490 calories for today.
Exercise: No cardio today...Strength workout:
Reverse Crunch with Ball
Dumbbell Side Bends
Dumbbell Triceps Extensions on Ball
Dumbbell Triceps Kick Backs
Clamshell Crunch with Ball
Crunches with Twist
Dumbbell Chest Press on Ball
Wall Squats with Dumbbells & Ball
Dumbbell Squat with Calf Raise and Overhead Press
Lying side oblique crunch
Dumbbell Chest Flys on Ball
Everything is 3 sets of 12 reps.

I sounded like a real b###h there, and I apologize. I know I can share here, and no one judges me here. It's some of the people in my real life - friends, co-workers - who are not supportive. I went through a time in September when I was fed up with comments and attitude. I have been very careful to not share anything food, diet, weight loss, exercise, or body image related with these individuals.
I was excited about a few articles in this month's Prevention magazine, accidentally lost my mind and shared one. It's the article about enjoying holiday parties for under 400 calories. It's re-opened a can of mean worms and I've had to deal with the drama since yesterday.

I have found that when I am 300+ pounds, they are pretty much non-existant... but the closer I get to 200, the more they seem to clear their throat, and raise their voice. My used-to-be best friend is one, but I know hers comes from a very deep-seeded insecurity. I've realized through counseling that her LAST comment to me was the day I started overeating again, and knowing that now... empowers me to be ready for it when it comes this time.
I am not only not interested in her opinion this time, or her criticism... but understand that it is coming from someone who feels out of control and really doens't know how to deal with her own emotions in a healthy way, so to feel better... she tries to be critical of my life, and weight loss.
I don't think any part of her wants to actually hurt me, but in reality, she did and probably will again.
Her last comment to me was about how hurt and left out and unloved she felt when I got below her in weight, and that she felt she had to drop me as a friend to keep from feeling so hurt every time she saw me.
Back then, it devestated me. And I remember thinking that if she felt that way, maybe others did too... and I don't remember making a conscious choice to start overeating again, but that week I also lost my Bubba Bill, and the combination of the two sent me back to the refrigerator for comfort.
Anyway, I have LEARNED that along the way, and the closer we get to goal, the more other people's insecurities come out and being around people who are doing something good with their life, makes them sometimes have to face their own issues...
And often unhealthy people don't see it as an opportunity to join in and choose to change, but instead they feel out of control and last out and hurt others as an attempt to feel better about their own lives.
I wish sometimes that I had the wisdom Paula has in her head as a counselor so I could know why I react the way I do at times... and could keep from having to learn things by making STUPID choices (like gaining 100 pounds back)... but thankfully I have LEARNED from that choice, and am moving back down the scale, a little wiser this time and ready for those comments and people who are my "diet enemies" or would try to sabatoge my efforts.
It is NOT going to stop me this time. I plan on confronting each comment head on and turning it around and giving the responsibility of change to the person dishing it out. I am not buying into those lies and guilt this time.
I have a LOT of supportive, encouraging friends and I'm stickin with the winners this time.

This issue has been ongoing with my closest two friends, and one co-worker, for so long. Gosh, maybe a year now? I let it continue, I let it push me down. In September I finally had enough. It was hard to talk about because it feels like talking behind their backs. I would have to say things about them that I couldn't or wouldn't say to their faces. I was too worried about hurting others' feelings, all the while mine were being hurt every day!
When I reached 100 pounds gone, they minimized it. When I got to Onederland they said "what's the big deal". When I could finally shop in a regular store my one friend said "quit bragging". When I finished the 10k and shared my photos and medal and story, I was called an overachiever. A week ago another Zumba instructor gave me a pair of Zumba cargo pants. I love them. They're a little tighter in the rear than I like, and of course because I have junk in my trunk they don't fit me like they do others. I am not confident in them, so I'll wait a while and they will fit right and I'll rock them out. I told my friend on Saturday that they were tighter than I liked and wasn't going to wear them. On Wednesday she says loudly 'why aren't you wearing your new cargos'. I repeated what I'd said on Saturday and she says that I care too much about that stuff. The 400 calorie holiday party article that I shared yesterday, my co-worker said he'd eat whatever he wanted because it is the holiday season. I said I'd try these because I sure don't want to gain any weight. Then he stares at me and says any weight he gains over the holidays will be lost in the new year.
This kind of crap makes me feel like I can't share things. I have never purposely flaunted anything to do with my weight loss. I'm not in-your-face, look at me, see what I've done. It's a lot of weight and people notice and say things, compliments, and I acknowledge them, answer questions, etc. I want to share my happiness over reaching goals, and be able to talk about my struggles, but I really just can't do that with these friends. It's going to be something that will take getting used to.
In the end, this is my journey. I need to rely on my own self. The choices I make are ones that are right for me.

You just can't be responsible for their issues. No one says they have to be happy for you, but they sure don't have the right to squash everything you do either. - Bravo!

At the end of the day, this journey is about you, your health, how you feel about yourself, and your own comfort level.
Being a caretaker by nature hearing that your loss is a threat to someone else's self esteem would certainly make you want to help them, but sadly, that is one of the many things in this life that is completely beyond your control. Her feelings don't matter one iota more than yours do...and, she is responsible for her feelings and for dealing with them, never you. Once you take on responsibility for another's good feelings, then you also become the one they blame when things don't go well...
So, no matter how you look at it, you lose, and I don't mean weight.
Sorry that got so long. I can't believe she had the nerve to put all that on you! - Shirley, Your insight continues to amaze me...You should counsel. You know your subjects. nt

That fresh ravioli is so good. Plus you get 1.25 cups for 250 calories! The sauce I'm having tonight is new. I hope it's not gross.

the last 5 days were a wash as far as staying on plan... but I still would not say a complete wash. I was on plan probably 90% of the time, was had 2 meals off at other relatives house that were sort of out of my control as to what I ate. And I did taste a couple of things I made, but stayed away most of the time from indulging. But I will say that the sodium content was HIGH and my body sure has taken the brunt of eating too much sodium... My legs, ankles and feet look like they have been blown up twice their size. Seriously, I have never seen my legs look like this, not even at 400 pounds. I'm a little worried actually.
But I am giving myself 3 days of drinking nothing but water, and healthy sodium free eating and see if they go down. If not, I am getting them checked out. It's scary and they feel like they're going to pop. The only shoes I can get on are my sneakers.
So back to serious, and I mean serious, to get anything off that I may have put on while company was here, and moving toward losing 20 pounds by Christmas... but I am not weighing for a week, even though I at least know I have gained some fluid by the way my legs look... I made the decision not to weigh because I think it might turn me in the opposite direction right now. I don't need to see it on the scale, I see it in my legs, so there's no denial here. I just don't need to rub my face in it.
So down to my plan.
coffee, splenda, creamer
high fiber tortilla filled with scrambled eggbeaters, ff cheese, onions, bell pepper
apple
high fiber tortilla filled with fresh veggies, tuna
orange
grilled portabella mushrooms on whole wheat bun with onion, tomato, lettuce with grilled veggies on the side
100 oz water - at least - Did you ever take water pills?

I have some that the doc gave me cuz I retain fluids like crazy! I just take one a day and things regulate themselves and if I overeat sodium, i can take 2 a day. They really help with that.

Did you see on Biggest Loser last week that they used the portabella mushrooms instead of a bun? It looked like a neat idea! I've never tried those - maybe I'll venture out and try something new Haven't tried your tilapia yet either but I shall!

More coffee once I get to work. (100)
Lunch - caesar salad, 2 low-fat puddings (680)
Supper - roast beef with gravy (380)
That's 1440 so I have room for another pudding for dessert. Chances are good, I will take it
Exercise today? Probably cardio for an hour - bike, treadmill, stair climber - some combination thereof.
