I'm glad they all realize that he can't work at the bar. That worried me. It's also a good thing that Meghan will go to Al-Anon. Addiction can be a 'family' disease and she needs to stand supportive AND strong.

that in the end, this will be a turning point for their family that may just make their life SO much better, in many areas. The changes he will have to make will affect everything in so many other areas... I am praying for them and for you. I know it's normal to want to rush this process, but recovery is slow and deliberate. You simply get up each day and make those choices all over again to walk the walk.
Wow, we sure can relate, huh?

I know first hand how difficult this time for you is. I'm so glad you got to see him and show him how much support he has from the whole family, that is very important. I'm glad that Meg's parents are being supportive too. It will be a hard road for him but he can do it with the help of his family, counselors, and the other people at meetings. Meg should definitely go to Alanon if she can fit it into her schedule it will help her get the support she needs from families of other people fighting addictions. I'm so glad that he took the first step in admitting he had a problem and that he wanted to get help, that is so important. I will continue to pray for you all! - ((( Beverly and Family )))

There will be bumps along the way but at least he has admitted to the problem and wanted to do something about it. THAT IS HUGE. He is ready and a person has to be ready before they can change.
Lots of prayers will be said for them. Its so nice your able to be there.

But I am so glad that Meghan is there for him. I commend her on that as I know from Murrays depression it isnt easy to always be supportive. Thank heavens Murray doesnt have a drinking problem along with his depression.
Prayers and lots of good thoughts for Mike as he travels this hard road, but he has lots of people rooting for him!

The good news is as hard as it is on everyone and tough as it is as changes need to be made, etc. all of my friends in similar situations are doing well.
if only we could change places with our kids...we would..on top of that it is so much easier when the problem is something that money alone can repair.
Nonetheless..time is passing..your son is progressing..better times are coming.

It takes a lot of courage and strength to face these addictions head on, and move forward. I'm so glad he is in treatment, working the program, and has such a supportive and loving family. You and your family will be in my prayers.
