The easiest way to avoid regrets is to ask yourself this question, "If not now, when?" It's a powerful way to put life and our decisions about how we spend our time into perspective"

My son is out of school this week and coming to help my husband. My husband thought with the help he has hired he could get the few pieces of skin (15 ft long metal panels) on his big machine warehouse. He sadly misjudged how not back to normal he is and the help he hired has a strong back but no background and it was exhausting my husband trying to tell him how to do each little thing and showing him so much. With my son there yesterday my husband kept going on about how good it was to have someone who knew what to do and how they still worked so well together. I was there a few minutes and realized that my son worked with his dad for so many years that he anticipates what needs to be done and gets there before my husband, giving him the easier (though still exhausting ) jobs without him ever realizing it. Grateful to him for giving up his only week off for this. |
Grateful to my DIL for insisting that my son come help out today instead of doing what they had already planned for him to do today and altering her schedule a bit so he could be here. At first, he had planned to take today off to do something on their to-do list. When he showed up he said she had insisted that they could do it later. She's a keeper.
Allergy pills. I haven't needed them in ages, but yesterday I needed them badly and they did a wonderful job.
That first cup of coffee in the mornings.
The screened room in the mornings and afternoons. I love starting and ending my day listening to the different birds.
Realizing while ago how much decaf I have been drinking lately. Somehow I have been craving warm drinks, but when I went for a refill I used the last creamer in the container, which I just replaced 10 days ago. I normally carefully portion out 40 calories worth a day, but in 10 days I have used 223 portions at 10 calories a piece. Even if I have been cooking healthier instead of ordering what they offer and have cut out having a bowl of cereal at night and lost two pounds this week, I have gotten over 2000 extra calories in a 10 day period. WoW! That could add up to a pound in two weeks. I gotta get off the coffee except for my morning cup and switch to green tea when I want a warm drink, which I like with no sugar or cream in it. It's the little things that do me in when I don't pay attention.

- still time to 'fix' things |
- at least I know - there's a name for it - they reason I binge in the evening. Binge eating disorder. I think I've had it for many years.
- pretty flowers blooming
- 6 goldfinches feeding at the same time - a thrill
- seeing a photo of my favorite bird that a friend posted
- they found out why the ride at the fair broke (killing 1 & injuring many) corrosion.
- my cousin Lou is in the hospital. So glad they are figuring it out. He has sepsis - like I had in January. (also had a friend who actually died from it 7 weeks ago) Too much.
friends, family, you all, fb, internet, cell, car works well

God answers prayers in His time. Yesterday a problem that has been very worrisome and so much bother for over 4 years resolved almost as if by magic. Pouf. It will be such a blessing to not have to keep dealing with that. |
The smell when you open a new package of coffee.
My impatiens are blooming. We gave my mom a beautiful huge potted impatient bouquet when we were there last spring. She raved about that pot of inpatients being the prettiest she had ever seen all summer. She saved seed and sent me some. She has raved about hers all this spring and summer. Mine came up fast and thick and got almost a foot tall but no blooms...until the last two days. It is beautiful! Blooms about as big as a pansy bloom and it has a darker pink star in the center.
Using this week to make plans on how to get more out of my day. Bible study classes start back on Tuesdays on the 15th, I am planning to start back to quilting guild meetings twice a month on Thursdays and I am so ready to make more quilts, more purses, and write more. I may even work toward doing a few craft fairs just for fun. In order to do any of that, I need a schedule after the kids go back to school, so I am making plans and schedules this week. Also planning several weeks of healthy meal plans and grocery lists to go with them. That way I can just pull out the meal plan for a week and place my order for a fast and easy pickup, saving lots of time. I'll get help from my daughter and the kids on weekends to do some prep work to make cooking go faster each day. With several weeks we shouldn't be eating the same things very often. I operate so much better when I know what I am supposed to be doing and have something to work toward.
My husband told me that he is planning to put wood flooring into the office and game room. I am thrilled. I can set up my sewing cabinet in an out of the way corner of the game room and not be stepping on pins lost in the carpet. I can be near the ping pong table I use as a cutting/ironing table for my sewing since no one will be in there during the day. Perfection.
LOTS OF GREAT STUFF!
