The easiest way to avoid regrets is to ask yourself this question, "If not now, when?" It's a powerful way to put life and our decisions about how we spend our time into perspective"

I am down another pound this week! I have to say even though the weight isnít dropping off me in large amounts each week, I am happy with having it be consistent. On the old program I might lose 3 pounds one week and then be up a little the next week and would just kind of go up and down. Since I started the new program I have either had a loss each week (even if it is only 1/2 to 1 pound) or stayed the same. I can live with that!! |
Down 73 pounds!!
Onward I march!

You may not be racing to the finish, but I bet you keep it off this time around because you are not racing to the finish line so you can "go off this diet" you are making new and better habits and not depriving yourself. You go, girl!|

It's awesome that you are still loving that diet. I am so proud of you.!!!|

Gained almost 4 lbs this week. Very discouraged by this. If I had gone hog wild, I could understand. Had a slice of cake on Sunday and a slice of cheesecake - having had neither of these since March 22 - over 10 months ago. |
Nothing really can be said to console me so let's now try Moving on. All I can do is focus on putting one foot in front of another and commit to the end goal.
You know you're

I really only was "off track" for a slice of birthday cake and cheesecake. I guess I have to tighten up! I'm kind of shocked that I gained that much!|
Relax and don't beat yourself up

Breathe and do what you have been doing. It'll disappear again. Probably quickly. It's the coming out of ketosis. |
An explanation if you want one of why that happened:
Remember when you first started and had a good sized drop right at the beginning of eating low carb? That is because ketosis causes the body to store less water. It looks good on the scale and looks REALLY bad on the scale after you have been losing well. If you get out of ketosis you store water quickly again and it makes the scale go up and emotions get down. Although after being in ketosis for awhile like you have been you can occasionally get away with a day of a bit higher carbs, anything with a good bit of sugar or highly starchy will throw you out of ketosis, like the cake did, the cheesecake was just icing if you will that kept you from going right back in. If you get right back in ketosis you should have a good loss of all that weight again and hopefully some fat to boot. You should have a good weigh in next week or the next one, depending on how long it takes you to get into ketosis solidly. Some people do this intentionally to bust a plateau. The key is getting right back into ketosis. Keep it 20-25 for a bit and you will be fine. You've got this.

I hope you're right. Sadly I gained 4 lbs BEFORE the cheat, then another 2 with it. Scale hasn't moved back down yet but I'll try your suggestion of going lower with the carbs. I've never had a "whoosh" either (quick drop in a matter of days) so that would be a very pleasant surprise.|
