The easiest way to avoid regrets is to ask yourself this question, "If not now, when?" It's a powerful way to put life and our decisions about how we spend our time into perspective"

Made it to work. It snowed all day and night Sunday. Biggest snowstorm in December in Richmond ever and 12th biggest in history. 12 inches which is nothing to you northerners and Canadians but huge in a city that might close schools with the threat of snow. Just not equipped to handle it. I shoveled about 3 hours on Sunday. I tried to keep up with it because I knew I wouldn't be able to do it once all of it had fallen. Woke up Monday morning and my whole body was screaming. The clinic had a delayed opening at 10 and I was planning to go...just a few more feet to do on the driveway . That is until I opened the blinds in the family room where Blake perches all day to look outside. My power, cable and phone lines were hanging right outside my window. Power was still on because of the way the attachment that holds the wires had pulled off the house there was this little wire holding it together. The phone and cable lines were lying across the street making it impossible for cars to get by. A huge branch had fallen and done the dama. I wishI had taken a picture because the branch fell right |
alongside of my car...no damage. Long story short, electric company was out by 3 and cable company company coming today. Two neighbors took the 2 wires that crossed the street and attached them as best they could and as high as they could so cars could get by. My house looked like a crime scene with yellow tape stretched across the area of the downed wires and tree branch. My plan is to have that huge oak taken down this winter because of this kind of thing. The storm just hit too soon.
We have a drainage ditch at the edge of the front yard where rain water runs down toward the river, I had piled a lot of snow on the edge of the driveway. I lost track of where the driveway ended and the ditch began and stepped and fell through the snow to the bottom of the ditch...snow up to my waist! I clawed my way out, grasping onto to handfuls or frozen snow. My neighbor didn't notice until I was out and laying on the driveway. I'm glad because I wouldn't have wanted him to help haul me out of the ditch! It really was pretty funny as falling through a pile of snow isn't painful...tho dragging myself out wasn't much fun!
Even with all the absent cartilage in so many parts, I'm able to do a crapful of.work
My mood lifts when I can be outside doing stuff like this
Bill's hearing has deteriorated in an alarming way over the past 10 months. I gave him my old hearing aids and it was amazing the difference they made. I saw in his face the awe that I first experienced when I got them
Sent an email to my old boss and the psychiatrist over there (who wants me back but but is being active in verbalizing support) telling them what new services I can bring.
Dug Charlie a path in the backyard but first time out he jumped into the deep snow. Fun seeing him be a puppy!

We found a nice Christmas tree for the Man Cave. It's a well-shaped Douglas Fir....smaller than usual, but there's not a lot of extra space in the garage. Scott and Bill will be happy. |
Working on getting the cookies and candy done.
Our neighbors.....we're so lucky to have great neighbors at both places. Well, other than our next-door neighbors who we don't get along with due to dog poop issues....
The weather is remaining beautiful.....it's gonna be sunny and 64 today! YAY! We'll take it.
My lovely blue Pointsettia is holding up well.
I like your life! nt

It's very good. But, trust me, it's had its "downers", too! There have been several rough times....especially in my younger years.|
Cinq Choses Pour Moi

1) seeing shoulder doc at 9:15 am - praying for a surgery date |
2) working 11 - 3 at radio today
3) Ray is driving me as I haven't been able to get into my friend's yard for the past 4-5 times and it costs $14 /day to park at a meter. I'm thankful Ray is off and can transport me today
4) Ray is off this week as they get together details on a new position for him within a different part of the business - he's optimistic
5) a good night's sleep

Well the news isn't great - they are "down" 3 anathesiologists right now in SJ - best case = 3rd week of January, worst case = end of February. 6 weeks in a sling (and supposed to be off work all that time) then 6 months 'til full use (i.e. teaching classes). Said I can go back to work after 6 weeks but would have to mouse with opposite arm. Time to start training to do that now I guess|

Know that's discouraging. You will find the bright side. You always do but for now, it sucks!|

Sure was hoping it would be better news, Krista. But, it is what it is, and you're the kind of gal who'll deal wisely with it.|

Pretty crappy news but I do know this - there is zero chance that I will take 6 weeks off from the radio. Maybe 2 weeks. I'll be learning some quick how to navigate with my left hand!|
I am rt handed
