The easiest way to avoid regrets is to ask yourself this question, "If not now, when?" It's a powerful way to put life and our decisions about how we spend our time into perspective"

There have been so many things going on here. The whole family got sick and I got to where I could hardly breathe. Turns out that I was in anaphylaxis due to mold from a broken pipe in the bathroom under the tub. I am very allergic to mold, more so than I even knew it seems and evidently it was toxic and making everyone sick. The water had been leaking out through the hole in the concrete around the drain so it wasn't coming out from under the tub where we could see it. We had to leave and basically, my master bath had to be torn down to the outer walls and the dirt underneath it, the dirt and everything left detoxed. Everyone is getting back to normal health wise. Unfortunately, we can't get a tile setter in here until after the first of the year and my husband don't feel that he can be up and down in that small space to lay the tile without adverse effects. Luckily it is not our only bath. |
My mother started having blackout spells then passing out spells in October. Her doctor couldn't find anything wrong so during November she wore a Heart monitor for two weeks. They told her that they didn't see anything on it. Several weeks later she got a call asking her to come back to her doctor's office that day. When she got there a specialist from Nashville was there and he told her that her heart was stopping for 8-10 seconds occasionally and they wanted to put in a pacemaker the next day. She came through like a trooper and is doing fine now. Even when she started doing fine I didn't want to leave her alone. Luckily one of my cousin, a widow, had decided to put her house up for sale and buy a smaller condo. Her house sold surprisingly quickly and they wanted to move in immediately, while the one she bought took forever to close. She asked if she could move in with Mama and keep an eye on her while she waits for the closing and the people to get moved out. Since she is a registered nurse it gives all of us peace of mind and I don't have to stay up there through Christmas. She closed on Tuesday and gets to move in sometime in January. Mama is doing well and should be fine to stay by herself again by then so everything worked out great.
So, we are back in our house. We are all feeling mostly human again though I am still seeing the Respiratory specialist. The tree is finally up and the grandkids have decorated it and most of the presents are wrapped. Christmas might just happen here after all. It's been a crazy couple of months but hopefully, things will resume some normality soon.
During all this, I managed to gain 14 pounds, be scared to death by it and got serious about working my plan. I am back down 14 to where I started from in October now and determined to keep it going down.
And that is pretty much how it is here. I hope everyone here is doing well. I am off to catch up. It's good to be home in every sense of the word.
