The easiest way to avoid regrets is to ask yourself this question, "If not now, when?" It's a powerful way to put life and our decisions about how we spend our time into perspective"
Sat Grats - whatcha thankful for ?

1. A program that works and the willingness to work it. |
2. Finally seeing a 3 pound loss this week.
3. A nice, quiet Saturday.
4. Being able to tape my shows and watch them whenever I want!
5. Despite the wind, the weather is a little warmer today.

By silent agreement, we all three stayed in our jammies here yesterday and cuddled up under blankets to stay warm. |
Instead of watching shows that I don't like or playing some kind of games yesterday my husband turned the TV on the Hallmark channel and invited me to watch with him. We watched 4 shows together cuddled up and warm. It was nice.
After a day of the house being 69 because one heater was not working and the other was working overtime to get the whole house warmed up, we did use shut the doors to the den and turn the fireplace on so that we were toasty, my husband finally went upstairs and played with the reset button on the heater. The heat came on so we could get showers in warmth. The heat and air guy has us on the list but we aren't on the top of the list because we have heat in this below freezing weather and some people don't.
Coming up with meals and staying on track is getting easier and cravings are easing up too. While I was sick I got in the habit of drinking Sprite zero. I hadn't had diet colas in over 5 years. I have got to get off that stuff again. I hate how it makes me feel and how hard I have to work to get water when I drink it.
The sunshine, as always.

Heat that comes on immediately at the touch of a button on these chilly mornings. |
Friends/workers at the grocery store who ask where I've been when I don't show up for a few days. It's nice to know they care.....
My family.....beside me all the way.
Hockey....The Last Vegas Golden Knights hockey team have replaced our passion for football..at least for the time being. Bill played hockey for the Detroit Fire Dept. team, so it's always be a favorite sport of ours. We love our Detroit Red Wings!!!
Easy meals.....I'm soooo tired of trying to come up with different meals...and then cooking them. Bah!
I love hearing

about your walks and your friends missing you when you are in Vegas. My husband has tried to get into hockey because we have a team here but other than following playoffs he still isn't a big fan. I am glad that you and Bill enjoy it after football season winds down. |

Thanks, Delta....Bill and I enjoy almost all sports. As a matter of fact, we have played many of them ourselves. We've done tennis, raquetball, bowling, golf, basketball. We've always been dancers, swimmers, water skiers, --- you name it...very athletic when we were younger. Now, I'm a WALKER......lol|
We do what we can

As long as we can. My husband was always very athletic and loved all kinds of the ball except hockey and soccer because he was not exposed to it until the later years. I used to skate at least 3 hours a day minimum and usually 5 or more hours per day on weekends for years as I was growing up and even on through many of my adult years. I loved both ice and since I had to drive for over an hour to get to the closest ice rink I settled for roller skating during the week. I also played softball and baseball when they would let me as well as tennis and rode horses. I wasn't much for organized sports other than baseball. I have learned to watch some of them since getting married but still not a huge fan. I enjoy reading about how much you and your family love it though, it reminds me of my husband. |

It's the weekend. I love my slow mornings. |
I think I'm looking forward to my trip next week. I leave for Tupelo Monday around 5, fly into Birmingham and drive 2 hours to Tupelo. Not looking forward to the last part because I probably won't get on the road until 8 or so.
On that trip, hopefully will learn a lot more about my role as SW for my company. ALSO, I am sure I'll come back knowing how to use the tablet. I'm already making some progress..
Had to make my trip reservations (fight, hotel, car) through the company's booking system and ended up in a middle seat on one of the flights! Was able to go on the Delta website and pay for seat upgrades to Delta Comfort and NO middle seats!
Have enjoyed being out with all my coworkers, shadowing them. I've been out with an RN during an admission and a return visit, the Chaplain who I love on 3 or 4 visits, an LPN on 3 visits, and one of the SW from the home health care side (I'm on the hospice side). She was very helpful in just getting the rhythm of the visits and with the tablet! I think when I get back, my boss will go out with me to make sure I'm ready. I have to keep reminding myself that it's ok "not to know" stuff.
You are so right! Nobody

expects perfection out of you, they know that you are learning. I wish you were flying into Memphis instead of Birmingham. Better road and closer and if you had any time at all I could meet you for a cup of coffee. Hope that you have a good trip and get lots of knowledge to make you feel more ready.|
Darn! Memphis was the other choice!

to hear that you feel you might need to go into assisted living. I know how much you love your wonderful apartment. We have some lovely senior living here where you can have as much or as little assistance as you need. My mother used the rehab portion of one of them and it was so beautiful and had so much going on all the time. Any time she was out walking around the complex we got to meet people from all of the different facilities and everyone had such good things to say about it and trying to get her to get her a house, apartment or room there and stay. I wish she had but I am glad that she is back on her feet and able to do for herself again. I hope that if you do feel that you need the extra help that you are able to find a wonderful place to get it and meet some wonderful friends there. |
What's going on that
Posted by Paula on 2/9/2019, 9:49 am, in reply to "mine"
you feel you have to move? That would be a big adjustment but there are some nice assisted living faciities...just a lot smaller. :-(|
Posted by shirley on 2/9/2019, 3:50 pm, in reply to "What's going on that"
that things are difficult now with having one hand that works and one leg that is slower and heavier or it feels that way. i have trouble cooking, taking out the trash and so many things that we have decided to be proactive now and not wait until it is a necessity. it will help a lot and take a world of stress off me. i hate to leave here for sure but the help will be appreciated so much. i don't like change, so this is something i am not looking forward to. losing my ability to drive also. my dr put her foot down on that. i guess its time, but i don't feel ready. keep me in your prayers.|
I think it is wise to
Posted by Delta on 2/9/2019, 10:14 pm, in reply to "Just know"
be proactive also. My husband and I have been discussing selling our house and getting either a house or apartment in a senior village with assistance as required in the near future before it becomes a necessity. When it is a choice, instead of necessity it seems to be a bit easier to take. I think it is a very smart move and I think you are right about it taking the stress off you. If you are going to retire from driving most of them have transportation any time you want to go somewhere too so that will help in that area. I hope you can find a good one like some of the ones that I have looked at. You are always in my prayers. |

I think being proactive is smart. Are there some assisted-living places near where you live now? I hope that you can find a really nice place that you enjoy. I think looking for one now before it is a necessity is a wise decision. |

- the birdies that come to our house to eat
- I've lost some weight
- it's so nice to look around and see things out that were my mom's

such a homey picture with these thankfuls. I like thinking of you sitting in your warm, new kitchen drinking your coffee with your sweater on looking around and seeing our Mom's things and the new kitchen coming together and looking out the window at the birds eating and just content in your life for a few minutes. |
Cinq Choses Pour Moi
Posted by Krista on 2/9/2019, 7:10 am, in reply to "Sat Grats - whatcha thankful for ?"
1 - bacon and omelette with hot coffee a la Chef Ray to start the day |
2 - 217.6 (18 lbs to goal)
3 - 3 more weeks at the radio 'til the morning guy returns from sick leave
4 - pajamas. I live in them when I am home!
5 - ppl who believe in me. I am discouraged about getting weight off again, about teaching classes (my passion) and regaining feeling in knee and fingers but friends cheer me on
I know that it is hard to not
Posted by Delta on 2/9/2019, 2:57 pm, in reply to "Cinq Choses Pour Moi"
get discouraged when you are going through what you are going through. I sure hope that you get the feeling back in your knee and fingers and there is a very good chance that you will because most people do after time but if you don't it gets to feeling normal after a while so that you don't notice it. Getting out of the sling and getting your arm back into more natural positions helps with the hands. |
You'll get there, Krista....
