Posted by Susan Patterson I would like to know what is in the best interest of preserving the beauty and value of this piece. If I were to order the elixir, how long would the process take for me to complete on my own? Would the elixir alone solve the problems or would I need to also order the set shown on the website? Also, I have no skills in this area and am concerned about damaging this valuable piece. Please advise. Thank you.

I have a 1955 solid cherry dining room set and want to have the 40" by 60" table top restored or refinished. One company wants to charge $475 to strip, sand, seal and lacquer the top only. The rep said the piece is not old enough to be considered an antique since it's only 50 yrs old and should be refinished as opposed to being restored. The top has many water marks and has a lot of wax buildup on it. There is one nick on the corner. The finish is noticeably missing in a lot of places.
