faux graining

we have a wardrobe that the finish I believe is shellac. It has crazed and there are some scratches that have gone down to bare wood. There is also some faux graining on parts of the wardrobe. Would your product damage the faux graining? I am afraid to try denatured alcohol on it for fear it may take off the graining.
