Boris
GIS #1900
Herriman, Utah
Looking for a new home since 4-8-08
Iguana age: 5 Years Old
SVL: 2.5 Feet
STL: 3 feet
Gender: Male
Reason for new needing a new home: I am getting married and moving to Seattle. As much as I love my pet, our new place does not allow pets, and my finace does not have the same love for him as I. I would love to keep him, but there is just no way.
Vet care and health history: Borris is a healthy iguana, who loves to eat, and climb. However, I use to keep a leash on him when I would allow him to play outside during the summer. (I did this to make sure he did not run away). The leash rubbed a spot on his back, causing him to loose two of his spikes. He has not been kept on a leash for over a year.
He also lost his tail when he was just a baby. Luckily it has fully grown back and is as stong as ever.
Diet: He loves fresh veggies, which I have fed him daily. His favorite is broccli, however he loves spinich, and manderine oranges as well for a treat. In addition to fresh veggies and fruit I also feed him dry adult Iguan pellets in hope to supplement any additonal nutrition needed. He eats both the fresh and dry food well.
I also enjoy bonding with Borris, and feeding him from my hand.
Habitat and living conditions: Borris lives in a large glass and wood cage with built in shelves, and a large plant for climbing. I keep the cage near a window in my bedroom so he has plenty to look at. I keep the cage warm with the help of UV lights and have a heated rock for him to crawl on when he wants to bask.
Temperament: Borris is great once he gets to know you. As with any iguanga, you need to be patient and treat them with respect. He has been handled quite a bit, but is quite strong so when scared he may whip his tail or run and hide.
He has been around kids, as well as a dog, which he has treated all of them well! He really is a great addition to any family!!
Borris loves to climb, and explore. He is quick, loves to be included in activity, and really enjoys a warm bath, and getting his head rubbed by me.
Handling: He has been handled quite a bit by myself. However, he has not been allowed to roam free. I let him out of his cage.
House broken: No
House breaking details: He use to only go to the batroom in the tub before swimming. However, as he grew so did the messes he makes. So he now goes to the bathroom on a pee pad for puppies that I change daily if soiled.
Anything included with iguana: yes
Included with iguana: I have a large glass and wood enclosure that is the home he has grown to know and love. I will also include to heat rocks, to heat lamps, food dish, and water dish.
Willing to ship iguana: no
Other information: I care deeply for Borris and have hard feelings about the need to give him up. With this being said, I will screen the applicants and truly want only the best owner for him.
I also have LOTS of Pictures!!!! Please let me know.
