GIS# 1905
Looking for a home since 4/12/08
Iguana name: Izzabean
Iguana age:
Gender: Female
Reason for new needing a new home: Owner grew up and left for college. Parents are caring for her but have no strong desire to do so for the rest of our lives. We care about global warming, live in a cool place, and think it would be better if she lived somewhere which required less electricity to keep her habitat warm and if she had more freedom and attention.
Vet care and health history: She was rescued from neglectful owners at age 2 years(they said). She was emaciated, had mites, and nails worn down from scratching to get out but quickly gained weight and health. Only health problem she's had in past 7 years was dry gangrene in the tip of her tail. About 2 inches were amputated and grew back healthy. Last vet check about a year ago, had normal labs and no health problems identified.
Diet: primarily greens (chard, collard, kale)with small amounts of beans (likes black and pinto), cooked carrots or squash, and occasional small pieces of banana or melon.
Habitat and living conditions: She lives in a heated insulated enclosure which is 3 ft wide, 5 ft long, and 6 ft high. Has climbing branches and 2 levels of basking shelves, thermometer regulated heat light and timer regulated multi spectrum light.
Temperament: She is pretty calm, can be picked up and carried without difficulty but sometimes flails a little and can inflict scratches if she has been out and doesn't want to go in when you pick her up. gets a little testy when her head is peeling. has not bitten anyone
Handling: Not as much since son is away. I talk to her and pet her every morning and night but only pick her up and take her out of her habitat once or twice a week.
House broken: Yes
House breaking details: goes in water box in her enclosure. also has been known to go in rabbit's litter box.
Anything included with iguana: yes
Included with iguana: We would be happy to give her enclosure to whoever adopts her but they would have to come to northern california to pick it up.
Willing to ship iguana: no
Willing to pay for shipping: no
Other information: I am flying to LAX at end of month and can bring her with me if adoptive "parent" will pick her up at airport.
Adoption application required - Please visit the following link for more information: http://www.greenigsociety.org/adoptap.htm
