AGUA-San Jose, CA
Been looking for a home since May 22, 2009
Iguana age: 14
SVL: 2'
Gender: Female
Reason for new needing a new home: Unable to continue taking care of a pet.
Vet care and health history: Possibly some small signs of MBD, improving exposure to natural sunlight from the lack of, during this past winter as well as improving diet. Also installed a UVB Reptisun 24" tube in new cage.
Diet: Diet changed to Collards, Mustard Greens, Dandelion Greens, Arugula, Nasturtiums, some Bok Choy, and occasional fruit. Currently following the Iguana Den Food recommendations. http://www.iguanaden.org/diet/index.htm
Habitat and living conditions: Current outdoor cage is far to big and is deteriorating to transfer to new owner. Built brand new custom wood cage. Dimensions 4' tall x 4' wide x 2' deep with a window sliding front entrance. 4 heat lamps on a thermostat. 2 daytime lamps for spot or natural lighting and one 24" UVB Reptisun tube placed above the highest shelf, both on 24 hour cycle timer. Top of cage can be raised to allow natural sunlight in. Wire-mesh slider as well as a wire-mesh top allows cage to be open while keeping iguana inside. Entire cage rolls on 4 wheels.
Temperament: Iguana is defensive and does not handle well. Will whip and hiss and is known to bite when threatened. Not advised to roam around as she will run away. While in the cage and she is mellow, been able to pet and hand feed her. She tends to stay inside the cage unless she is hungry in which she will rush to the food.
Handling: Not handled very much, have been able to pet her and hand feed her. She's very much a look but don't touch iguana.
House broken: No
Anything included with iguana: yes
Included with iguana: Brand new 4x4x2 foot mobile wood cage with the lighting and heating lamps included with the iguana.
