A whole day off life is essential - no work, no food, no TV, no family - cocoon yourself in bed and I do mean bed and not the sofa or the family will take advantage - just leave everything. personally I find that imodium can help dry me off a little but not enough to let me actually do any living, just time to get from the bed to the toilet, sometimes I wear a pad.
Next day I can go back to work (with a pad for emergencies) but will not be functioning at 100%, but will take several days to get up to speed. A non sympathetic employer can make your life hell at this point, which can be unlucky.
No help, sorry!
