Your son may need to have an IgA deficiency test. With those symptoms and the change in him since coming off gluten this would be a good thing to check. Our son was screened regularly for CD but nothing showed up until the consultant checked for IgA deficiency - where this is present the usual test for CD will not work properly because it relies on IgA antibodies. Our son was IgA deficient, and when the IgG was tested instead his results were sky high. Coeliac Disease was then confirmed with a biopsy.This is all in the NICE guidelines, so if your son is IgA deficient ask for IgG and then a biopsy if necessary.
