Having been married to this man for 57 years I am used to his inability to empathise, I sometimes wonder if sh should have been diagnosed as borderline autistic as he just doesn't seem to have the ability to put himself in other people's shoes. Unless I am really careful about 'hiding' my special food and equipment they can become contaminated by someone being careless with double dipping etc.
My grandmother used to say to me when I was feeling sorry for myself - stay strong, you need no-one, you're born alone and you die alone. Not strictly true perhaps, but it does make you feel more in control. Who needs him?
