So sorry to hear this. Such a lot to deal with. Def a good idea to get in touch with a support group like macular society. My grandma has the same eye thing and altho docs only ever say they can halt it, her sight has actually slightly improved. She has got a better social life now than she's ever had because macular society and blind society take her shopping and to lots of weekly socials. Also, the kind of people who volunteer to drive are lovely people and enjoy a good chat which sounds like just what you need.
She also gets free membership to an CD audio book library (as reading whole books is too tiring now) where you ring up to order what you want and you get pre-addressed, pre-paid envelope to post them back. She loves this. Once ypu have the support of a society, they'll sort that out for you and also lend you any equipment you need like magnifying machine for reading.
Cant believe your husband isnt being more supportive - there's lots of people out there who do care. Big hugs and let us know how you get on or come back for a rant on here when you need it (we all do) xx Bridie
