Just because you test negative for CD at one time, Linda, this doesn't mean you will never be a coeliac.
LI (usually temporary) can be found with CD as the microvilli (on tips of villi) dealing with lactose are damaged - along with villi- when the coeliac eats gluten.
Best for your son to ask GP to test for CD in both him & his daughter, I think.
