Results of a survey of the differences in GF items when compared with non-GF are coming in.
When someone writes that GF costs are double or three times as much as a conventional item what, exactly, do they mean?
Well, if it is just plain vanilla ice cream or tomato pasta sauces there seems to be no difference!
There are, however, some notable (and eye watering) differences for a number of everyday products that we've noted from some of the early results - with differences ranging from 0% to over 300%.... The CCGs, Press and general public look only at the costs of breads, flours and pastas, but the reality is that many, many, everyday items cost more for those with CD.
....but we really need help in compiling comparative shopping surveys for more stores. Our list has just 16 items and excludes bread, rolls, flours, bread mixes and dried pastas.
