I can see consultants are busy and are trying to cope with many patients.
However I only need one letter to inform me that the appointment has had to be cancelled .
BTW I happened to overhear a receptionist talking to a nurse when on a recent visit as an outpatient (for a different medical condition).
The receptionist was saying she had been asked by a certain consultant to double-book his patients' appointments- in the hope that some of the patients would ring to cancel and ask for another appointment for a different day!
I have also had a letter from a hospital informing me I was asked in a previous letter from them to make an appointment -but as I had not done so I would be taken off the list to see the consultant concerned.
This was the first time I had ever heard about the need to book an appointment with this consultant- so I rang the department to inform them politely -but in no uncertain terms -about the matter.
'Problems with the computer system' were said to be the cause of this mix-up !
