There must be many GPs who were trained a long time ago, before proper understanding about CD & GFD was taught to medical students, Barb.
It was only fairly recently understood that the amount of gluten in barley malt extract is not safe for us (because ways of measuring the level of gluten in barley malt were not sensitive enough).
As you say , it is best for newly-diagnosed coeliacs to have advice from dietitians who know all about CD & GFD.
Would this person join CUK, at least for a year, until she understands better how to eat safely?
