I thought James Cave was the weakest of the three speakers, chucking out a few soundbites but not much else. For instance, the cost of that loaf of bread in Tesco versus cost to the NHS - not really comparable because there will be a delivery cost to the NHS and each prescription order is a separate order without bulk buying discounts. His answers made me wonder just how much he really knew about Coeliac Disease, given how he was quoted by a number of national newspapers re GF prescriptions. The other specialist did seem to be very prepared with good answers and the mother of the child was also spot on.
Cave's talk of industry lobbies applies to the whole gamut of NHS operations and prescribing.
