Re: Holiday abroad recommendation?
Hi - My wife has coeliac disease and we found the Costa Adeje Gran Hotel in Tenerife a good choice. I made contact with them before hand and they were very welcoming. The buffet clearly had risk of cross contamination but my wife did get things prepared for her like toasted GF Bread, at breakfast. She was able to speak with the relations officer and the chef for evening meals, say what she fancied and had meals separately cooked for her, steak, chicken GF Pasta etc. The hotel itself was lovely as well. Not easy taking holidays abroad but this was probably one of the best we have had. We have been to other hotels where language was a problem along with lack of understanding.
E-Mail we got back from the Costa Adeje Gran Hotel - "Concerning your request for your wife being a coeliac, we kindly inform you that our buffet provides a large variety of salads and also fresh and cooked vegetables as well as fresh fish and meat grilled in our show cooking. We supply as well some celiac products (bread and cookies for breakfast and pasta) that are not shown on the buffet but can be supplied when asked.
Unfortunately, though, the hotel cannot guarantee that there is no risk of cross-contamination of foods, or that any of the products used in our buffet contain no trace of gluten.
On your arrival day, please contact our Guest Relations department and you will be given a voucher "gluten free" in order to show it to the responsible of our Restaurant and Kitchen departments. This facilitates the communication".
Hope this helps you, whatever you decide have a nice holiday!!
