Why getting a diagnosis is important

One more thing - I forgot to say below how important it is to have a diagnosis if you have CD.
Auto-immune diseases often come in clusters and it is more likely you'll develop another one if you already have CD. Without a diagnosis this part of your medical picture will not be available to those treating you.
You will also need regular DEXA scans to make sure your bone density is up to scratch - undiagnosed coeliacs not following a GF diet will be suffering from absorption problems and might need extra calcium (and other supplements too).
If you have a diagnosis of CD all this will be checked and treated if required.
