Sardinia was one of the first places I went many years ago after being diagnosed and I thought it would be awful but it was brilliant. There is so much awareness in Italy as all children are tested for coeliac and I found breakfast things in all hotels and pasta and pizza available everywhere in restaurants. I do always email hotels before going away but everywhere in Europe have found they will cater. Also further afield - New Zealand and Australia are really good - so don't be put off travelling, just spend a bit of time on research and planning and then go for it. You'll never starve with a few snacks from home especially for flights, but bananas are available just about everywhere to fill a gap!!
