High red blood cell distribution width (RDW) any medical folk around?
Posted by Sarah on 6/6/2018, 17:42:09
My mother has just had blood tests for coeliac disease they havenít come back yet.
Her RDW red blood cell distribution width is twice what it should be her MCV (mean corpuscular volume ) is below the reference range.
Her folate and b12 were normal on the last test
She has iron deficiency anaemia and her haemoglobin is around 8. The RDW rose ten points when she started taking liquid iron
I donít know how a high RDW would make someone feel?
She is not keen to ask the doctor
