I thought it was quite a well balanced article actually, and was glad it mentioned NCGS. You're correct, I'm not officially diagnosed, and went through years of wondering what was wrong with me, and pursuing a diagnosis as in some parts of the medical profession it's either CD or "nothing". |
I also think that some people with CD, think that because we are classed as just sensitive, we're somehow less affected by the symptoms we suffer. Ok, I wont ever develop CD, but neither will I ever touch Gluten again as it makes me so poorly.
When i eat out, I stress I CANNOT eat gluten, not that I have CD, or NCGS, or can i please have GF.
I'm just glad there is more awareness, and I read it as saying, that going GF is not easy and to be careful before going GF as it is not a necessarily healthy choice for some people.
Re the mention of over diagnosis and self diagnosis of NCGS, I also have migraines, and there is no gold standard diagnosis or test to prove it, - you just have them. So when people say they have bad headaches or they are sensitive to gluten too, it's very similar and just a Mmm... moment for me.
