Anyone not get on with Wharburtons Bread? Posted by PaulG on 6/1/2018, 11:04:09 90.216.111.X I think they call it Newburn Bakery sliced. Anyway, it's the only thing I've changed in my diet (I usually have the excellent Bergen Sunflower and Chia seed loaf but stock levels v hit and miss at my local Tesco) and my skin feels itchy which is a sign I think of gluten and certainly some sort of inflammation.

Also end up hungrier after eating it than before! Flavour is terrieble, whether white sliced or brown. Their Artisan Sour Dough Bread used to be lovely, but has changed recently and is awful, very much like their white sliced - too soft, and goes cleggy in the mouth and sticks to teeth unless toasted or allowed to go stale. For information, there is a note on recent batches of the Artisan Breads that the name is changing from Newburn Bakehouse to Warburtons Gluten Free. No idea whether any other changes will be apparent.

I also purchased Tesco White sliced and it smelt of vinegar Horrible. It was so soft just fell apart. Last time I buy both of these breads. For some reason M&S are out of White sliced Since before Xmas have all the others. Not sure what's happened there

So sticky but no other ill effects. I have got a sore mouth though which I think is down to the fact that when toasted it goes so hard it does damage.

I like the mighty mini white sliced and the artisan uncut loaves. The larger white sliced loaf is a bit hard when toasted. Unless they have made changes the Newburn Bakehouse is a dedicated gluten free bakery so should not have any contamination issues. I wouldn’t necessarily know if I’d been glutened though.

Posted by tinkerbell on 6/1/2018, 14:44:00, in reply to "Re: Anyone not get on with Wharburtons Bread?" 109.154.1.X I amake my own bread using wholemeal orgran bread mix which is all i get frommy gp it is enriched with some vitaminsand is a yeast free mix ...I do not eat much bread but I get it as and when I need some ,I eat more vegetables really than fruit as that also not agree with my system ,I have always had to be careful about what I eat yeast free only as can not eat it,it makes my psoriasis worse .some bread mixes are dreadfully course and these also are too rough for my insides.....orgran wholemeal gluten free bread mix suits my insides the best for bread making and i only use about half a packet per loaf to fill my small bread loaf tin ,i do not make a lot of bread, at a time, as i want mine freshly made.... and then used.you can not easily get orgran bread wholemeal mix in the shops.... so this is why for health reasons I am gratefully precribed it,also I am 65, i do however buy my own calcium and vitamin d tablets ....from Aldi..... as take responsibility for my own, common sense well being.Pills ect from Aldi are not expensive T.G.

I don't know if it would be better if I had a bread machine - maybe. For that reason I dont eat much bread either, but I do like Warburton's Thins - they make very tasty sandwiches and dont stick and go gooey in your mouth like the sliced loaves do.

Posted by tinkerbell on 12/1/2018, 11:45:22, in reply to "Re: Anyone not get on with Wharburtons Bread?" 109.154.1.X my homemade bread is now very nice using orgran wholemeal bread mix, but i make only small tin size loaf, and always turn oven off... after it has risen and slightly browned on crust ...to cook on residue only for half of the cooking time at about 170 to 190 degrees only it comes out soft and like good normal bread, i never cut it until it is fully cooled but tip it out on to a rack in the oven till cold.for cutting small loaf so keeps fresh till eaten in my case.with the door open at the end to warm our kitchen.dinner room .it took me very long time to learn to crack bread making gluten yeast free wholemeal bread but glad i never gave up trying now at last!!!
