    For you...

Let's be clear. Society currently no longer views "us" as evil or sinister. They seem to have come to view us as trendy or a cash in. If they have fear, it's because they do not understand. They often chose to paint their own picture without having the proper colours. But, see, Goth isn't unique to that. That's how society is!

Now, you're right about something. Society, in looking at their children, will think it's all about rebellion. Goth has never been about rebellion much the same way that punk was. But here's the tricky part. Are you referring to Goth as a scene or subculture? There's a difference here. The scene itself is little different from society in that you have to fit into it's views and/or beliefs. What I can never understand, however, is how a society as it is can bring an issue of morals into the picture. How our society, regardless of (sub)culture, can do awful things to each other and still make judgments on another is still beyond me. Let's not begin with satanists which had none to do with the devil.

It can be said that society may have an obsession with things evil no matter their religion. Just turn on the news to see how many reports of murder and whatnot, and you see my point. My argument is meaningless if this is true. It's tiring to see how society won't allow people to be individuals.

: After looking at this site, I did alot of
: compare and contrast, especially with
: religion and personality traits. As you had
: mentioned, society views Goth as bad. But
: when you say that most Goths are
    : indivudalistic, creative, emotionally
: focused, and non-violent, is this not what
: society tells us we should be. The same goes
: for looking more into the Satanist religion.
: I looked at their rules, and to me it sounds
: alot like the 10 Commandments, but in
: alternative way of writing it. Again, morals
: that society says we should live by, but
: it's Satanist. I guess my question is why
: does society view all of this as negative
: when its really positive? (By the way, I'm a
: soiology major, so that's why I'm interested
    : in this).
