Hi Miao, Thank you for your response, I appreciate it. Do you think that these traditional gender roles effect the scene? Is there a divide between how men and women engage with the subculture? Do you mind if I quote or paraphrase your response in my essay? Would I be wrong in assuming you identify with the gothic subculture? Thanks again --Previous Message-- : I find that, for all the talk of : openmindedness and progressivness, gender : roles remain almost exactly the same through : all subcultures. : : Sure, styles of dress might be different, : and it's more socially acceptable, for : example, for the males to wear makeup, and : non-hetero sexualities may appear more : common and tolerated, but I think a lot of : this is just part of the image. It's : "hip and edgy" to play with gender : and sexuality, but at the end of the day, : most are just like the general population, : clinging to tired gender roles. :
