Take me for example; on a normal day, i would wear jeans and a band t-shirt (for further research, type 'goth music' into a search engine. please note, although lot of goths like metal, alot of metal head aren't goth. goth and metal are different music genres). if i feel like dressing up, it can one of two ways. 1 - i'd wear my favourite velvet skirt, going classic goth. flowing skirt, lace, frills. girly clothes that happen to be black. 2 - although i'm not a fetish goth, i do like putting on platform heeled boots and pinstripe bondage trousers. Basicly, there's straps/chains going loosely around the trousers to allow freedom of movement. and maybe a corset, or something tight and flattering ontop. if I do wear colour, it's either red ( i would wear red lipstick) or purple (i'd then wear black lipstick. purple lips look wrong on me!)
