Thanks for posting, it was a great read. Perhaps you do not consider yourself a goth, but you are definately an old bat. And how I know that comment: 'You are too old to look like a teenage kid in rebellion'. Try to have a look at Alicia's blog( address in her post on the top of the site) the part about elder goths. As long as you're not too old, everyone will lie about how long they have been in the scene, but if you reach the mature age of fifty, you are suddenly not cool anymore, you are 'The Creepy One'. Actually a strange word to use as a degrading term, coming from a goth...? Anyone here who do NOT want to be 'The Creepy One'? Perhaps it is because everybody has forgotten what this subculture is all about. Not being a snobby elder goth who makes snide remarks on everybody's makeup and outfit, but about having fun! Keep soring through the night on your batwings Barnabus, and keep having fun. Tass --Previous Message-- : I guess I should not totally class myself as a : goth, although I go to the goth club in my : erea every chance I get, I am much closer to : the Vampire realm. : : I started studying vampires when I was too : young to pronounce the word, and by the time : I hit elementary school and could read well : I knew enough to write a book. It was funny : because my mother hated my tendencies and : said Satan was taking over my mind. With : her he'd have had competition. : : I've always had a passion for cemeteries, : old houses, and I've driven antique cars : almost exclusively. I drive a 59 Ford right : now, that is actually gothed up quite : nicely. : : In recent years I took on making props and : selling them and with the use of a set of : hearses (a 1966 and a 1981 I affectionately : call Silvie since it is silver) I set up a : casket based photo set at attractions in the : fall and sell props there. : : My neighbors went bananas when I moved in, : two hearses in the yard, caskets in the : house, skeletons everywhere and loud music : (Midnight Syndicate is my top choice for : that) playing on a PA. A family walking : downt he road became scared and ran when I : came out, in my dark angel shirt, and long : overcoat. It amused the @ out of me, sorry, : but it did. : : I've been stared at, ridiculed, and told how : immature I am, too old to act like some : teenage kid in rebellion. I reply thanks : for noticing, because it's the immature ones : with a streak of childishness that make the : world a more fun, better place. : : Besides, as long as fat bald men who look : like bean bag chairs can consider themselves : attractive, I should be free to walk the : earth. Have I slept in a casket? Oh yeah, : at first for the laugh it gave me, but since : refurbing it for photos, I find it to be : very comfortable. : : I hope my little short bio gives you a : chuckle, because good humor is what it is : all about. Oh, if you read this and want to : have a really cool vampire look, might I : suggest Shrine of Hollywood. They are : pricey, but my black overcoat is awesome to : look at. barnabus isn't my name of course, : but since most of the vampire community : picks a name, I like the one reminiscent of : the fictional character fromt he sixties, : with haunting music that my mother used to : play all the time on her sane days. : : Cheers:):) : : Have fun. : : :
