    What is happening to Goth?

    Howdy Everyone,

Before I get to my question, let me provide some background info on myself.

I don't really think of myself as goth, more like a darkwaver ... but it's only a term. In some cases I'm stereotypical in my goth lifestyle and outlook - Love The Cruxshadows, black, am pagan (many many years), love me some SaladFingers, etc.... In others, I'm not - can't stand cats, don't really go to goth clubs, etc...

By all accounts, I'm a geriatric goth (eldergoth) .. I'll be 40 this year ... Still can't figure out how I got to this age ...

Ok, now here is my question. What happened to the goth culture? When did it become cool? They are putting skulls on kids clothing. I just purchased a box of bandaids with skulls on them form The Gap ... I remember when you had to go to the "bad" stores to find goth clothes ... now I can find it at Target. When did we go from being a statement of individualism and expression to popular and cool?
