well... As far as I know Goth is still same thing but thre is A LOT of teenagers who wants to be different to catch some atention. And Being "dark" is good way... Most of them wants "Goth clothes" and if there are people who wants to buy stuff there will be shops that sell stuff.
Goth isn´t cool. Ony people who thinks it is are those Darcoolin´s (Dark + Cool + in = Darcoolin). Just try to use Google to search for "gothic" You will find pages about PC game (really good one) and LOT of dark blogs full of bloody pictures, everything about goth bands like Evanescence, Nightwish, Within temptation... (except for evanescence good bands but What the f**k they have to do with Goth?), and if you will be searching long enought You will find few good sites.
That´s why people don´t know what is goth. Got isn´t same as it was when it all started but if it has evolved it is better than it was. Problem is that there are two different things with same name:
1. diverse subculture of great people and lot of interesting mucic genres.
2. "Dark" teenagers who think´s that goth is only about being sad, depressed and about disgusting pictures...
