Greetings. One need not be "raised Gothic" to become Gothic. Indeed, I dare say a vast majority were raised the exact opposite before they "became" Gothic. And yes, there does exist Gothic families, but individuals don't become Gothic by being raised solely in a Gothic family. 'Tis a subculture, and subcultures are able to be joined by anybody. Unless you are a White Nationalist :P
: As you said.. it is a subculture. You get into
: the Gothic subculture the same way you get
: into any other subculture.
: You become interested because you have
: friends who are goths or you are curious,
: you like the music, the dressing style. Just
: like if it was Hiphop or Punk or any other
: No, goths are not raised as goths by their
: family. At least I hope they aren't! That
: would be just as stupid as forcing any other
: personal interest on you children.
: The owner of this site, Alicia, has put a
: lot of effort into writing about the Gothic
: subculture...you should read it. It will
: answer a lot of your questions.
: Perhaps I read too much into your questions;
: but you seem to think goth is some kind of
: semi religion or dark movement with secret
: rituals..Well, it's not! Sorry! It's just
: a subculture.

: Hello my name is Isa, I am intrigued by the
: gothic subculture. With all due respect i
: would like to ask some questions.
: How do people get involved in this culture?
: are gothics raised this way by their family?
: is the entire family gothic or is the gothic
: culture something that people decide to
: become a part of on your own? and why?
: Thank you in advance
