I know this thread is old but for anyone who's still interested in this subject there's an academic book on the subject by Dunja Brill called: "Goth Culture: Gender, Sexuality & Style". http://www.amazon.co.uk/Goth-Culture-Gender-Sexuality-Style/dp/1845207688/ref=sr_1_9?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1310392456&sr=1-9 I haven't read it yet but intend to. It looks like an interesting book. Goths interviewed in the book are from Germany, the UK and US. --Previous Message-- : Hi to any readers, : : I'm doing an essay for my sociology unit and : am trying to dig up some info. : : From my general interest in the subculture : over the last few years I get the impression : that females play a large role in shaping : the culture. Many goth sites, such as this : one, seem to be maintained by women. : : I was wondering whether there is a divide in : the culture between guys stuff and girls : stuff, or is it that neither gender having : significantly more influence then the other? : Are there macho/chauvinistic (traditional : male values) branches of goth where women : are marginalised? : : Thanks in advance, : : Jimmy :
