I think you're underestimating goths a bit here....

The words 'goth' and 'gothic' have evolved greatly over time. To deny it does not encompass music and fashion now is to be blunt: daft. Goth is a music based subculture now which also includes a focus on the fashion to a greater or lesser extent. To some people it's all about the fashion and to others less so. It doesn't make them wrong or ignorant of where the term originally came from. To harp on about the 'real meaning' sounds ridiculous and pretentious given how muddled your description of the terms history comes across.

: Exactly, it's much deeper than that.
    :
: The architectural buildings that was built
: in representation of the Gothic Culture was
: gigantic stone structures that rose upward
: in the praise and worship of
: "God". Gothic is not a way to go
: against our everyday society. Even though,
: it is roughly used within metal, Wicca
: practices, and other negative things, it's
: used as a contradict to itself. In fact,
: Gothic was used as a superior architecture
: in the 18th century that was itself regarded
: as crude and primitive in contrast to the
: beauty, symmetry, and formality of classical
: (Ancient Greek) architecture, and which was
: intended to create feelings of awe and
    : powerful, almost mystical emotional
: responses in those who ventured into Gothic
: buildings, which typically were cathedrals
: and churches. In other words, it was an
    : architectural and engineering achievement.
    :
: The term Gothic morphed into a genre of
: literature during the renaissance that had
: elements of horror. To be honest, Gothic is
: a wave of free expression in the beauty of
: literature, art, and being who you are. But
: it's not all about music, the fashion
: statement, and wearing bloody makeup. If
: people knew the real meaning, many goths
: would not have to deal with the idiots of
: the media and basically every day society.

: What does being "Gothic" mean to
: you? Meaning how does it define who you are,
: if at all? It Gothic just black eyeliner
: from MAC and White facemakeup or is it
: deeper than that. Please share with
    : me.....Many Blessings to you..
